The Balkan Music & Dance Workshops hosted by the EEFC (Eastern European Folklife Center) take place every year and are a great place to explore the music and dancing of that region.

I'll be teaching an intermediate Macedonian tambura class and a Makam Theory class at the East coast camp this summer 2013.

Also exciting news, Sherita recorded about 5 tracks with Don Godwin engineering at the board. Give us a couple of months for some mixing time and give a listen online.

> Sherita Recorded on wax cylinder
Posted on June 02, 2013
Sherita is a Brooklyn, NY based group I play with. On June 1, 2013 we did something VERY cool...recorded a song on to wax cylinder at the Thomas Edison National Historical Park in West Orange, NJ.

We could immediately listen to the results which sounded like us, whispering in sounds from the past. Cool stuff what a treat this was. Go visit the museum and look for a sound sample coming soon.

> Ljuti Hora recording in the works
Posted on March 15, 2011
Ljuti Hora, a Balkan band I've been playing with regularly in Berlin for the past two years spent three days recording 18 tracks in February. The ensemble is made up of tapan/darabuka, accordion, gaida, clarinet/flutes, tambura/Cümbüş. Our friend Manu Miethe was the engineer.

I'm playing either Macedonian tambura, Turkish Cümbüş and maybe even sing background vocals on a couple of tracks. I can't remember. Ljuti Hora is a great dance band, playing the Tanzhaus once a month at Mehana Trakia Bulgarian restaurant in Berlin.

As a string player in Ljuti Hora it's tradition to make a recording with the band, take really funny photos for the album cover and then relocate to a different country.

We're hoping to get the CD mixed mastered covered shrinkwrapped spat upon and polished by Fall 2011.
